Like any artist today, I do a little bit of everything, but I like to break it into three main components:
Musician: Session player/hired gun at gigs or in the studio.
Compositions & Sound Design: Freelance film, commercial, or private social media work.
Producer & Sound Engineer: Recording & mixing bands / solo musicians in my studio.
Multi-instrumentalist in the studio. Drummer IRL.
I’ve worked in many studios out west, Colorado, and Los Angeles, where I worked side-by-side with industry producers and sound engineers. Essentially I’ve taken what I’ve learned from them and my time there, back home to upstate NY where I’ve built my studio for my own business.
I tend to work on one project at a time and handle each client as I would with anything else I put my name on - as an opportunity for craftsmanship and uniqueness. In other words, something to be proud of for both me and the client.
There are many high-end studios out there with high-end studio fees. My services are to those who don’t have the funding for those larger, more expensive studio fees. While there’s something to be said about working in the best recording studios, I also know you can do a lot with a little, especially these days, and maybe you’re just getting started.
